Becki Newton

Born in New Haven, Connecticut, Becki Newton grew up in Guilford, Connecticut. Becki Newton has English descendance. She started to sing in musicals as well as play in local theatres. Newton was transferred in New York City after graduation and began working in TV commercials, including for Olive Garden. Newton played Amanda Tanen from 2006-2010 in the comedy drama series Ugly Betty. Together with co-star Michael Urie, Newton co-hosted the official Ugly Betty Radio show. Newton also appeared on ABC.com's Mode After Hours webisode series. Ugly Betty was canceled in 2010, after four years of successful programming, that allowed the show its proper finale. In the latter part of 2009, Newton performed at the New York City Center Encores! presentation of the Gershwin musical Girl Crazy, which was produced by Jerry Zaks. Newton starred as Molly Gray opposite her real-life husband Chris Diamantopoulos. Newton was a part of Love Bites. Cindy Chupack created the hour-long romantic comedies. She served as the executive producer on Sex and the City. NBC began the series beginning in May of 2010 However, because of the announcement of Newton's pregnancy, Jordana Spiro being contractually bound to remain on the show with My Boys and the show being pulled later on, as well as Chupack wanting to leave Love Bites, the premiere was delayed until mid-season.
