Scarlett Johansson was born on November 22nd, 1984 on the 22nd of November, 1984 in New York City New York. She is an American actor and singer whose talents have won her recognition across many genres - from thrillers and adventure films to period dramas. Johansson has a father who is a film director as well as an architect. Her family was based in New York City. She was the twin sister of Hunter and her were among the youngest of siblings. She developed an interest in acting from a very young age, and began auditioning for commercials at the age of seven. To improve her acting skills, she joined classes at the Lee Strasberg Theatre Institute in Manhattan as well as she attended the Professional Children's School. When she was eight, she appeared with Ethan Hawke in the Off-Broadway production Sophistry and, at the age of nine she made her first film appearance with Rob Reiner's North (1994). Johansson later appeared as a character in Just Cause (1995) but her breakthrough was Manny & Lo (1996) a coming-of-age film about siblings who are orphaned and run away.
